Best unflavored oil?

by Vesna@ how-to-cook-with-vesna.com
(Madison, Wisconsin)

Hi Misty,

What is the best oil for purposes where you don't want a strong flavor? For instance, I know olive oil is traditional for real mayonnaise, but I don't like the strong flavor of olive oil mayonnaise.

I know canola is not healthful, and I think "vegetable oil" is probably soy (yuck), so what to do?

Thanks!

Hi Vesna!

Thank you for your question. I believe the mildest oil for those "vegetable oil" purposes is always Rice Bran Oil. It's a nice mild to no flavor really.

With its mixed tocopherols (Vitamin E family) it is a high nutrient oil as well.

This oil has a more than 400 degree smoke point as well so you can use it as a frying oil if you wish without worry of oxidation.

In good health Vesna!
Saludos!

Misty turned me onto Rice Bran Oil - and I really love love it! I'm not even comfortable using any other oil anymore!
