I have a question about fish oil. How much should I take a day?

Thank you so much for your appreciation of the information I share here. I too believe it a valuable source for weight loss and elevated nutrition. I'm doing what I love!

Your fish oil dosage question is a great one!

I follow some very intelligent biochemists and one recommends the following:

If obese and in an inflammatory state: .25 gr per 10 lbs. of body weight. If one weighs 300lbs, they are more than likely inflamed and we know, obese so the total amount would calculate to approximately 7500 mg. daily.

If at a healthy lean weight, .1 gram per 10lbs. of body weight. If one weighs 150 lbs. and is in a healthy state the total amount would be approximately 1500 mg. daily.

If one consumes all wild caught cold water fish, grass fed beef and little to no vegetable oils, no fish oil is required though I would take 1000 mg. daily to reduce the potential inflammation from environmental sources.

Always look for a clean source free of contaminants.

I'm so glad to hear that you have started taking your omega 3's. It is uber important in order to fight inflammation as our abundant omega 6 heavy diet from grain raised animal proteins and vegetable oils as well grains is so dominant.

The omega 6 intake is important to produce inflammatory cytokines. However, we are far too abundant walking around in a constant inflammatory state.

Balancing your omega 3's also makes you more insulin sensitive so if one has insulin resistance, pre-diabetes or diabetes, one is wise to make sure their omega 3 intake is optimal.
